LEGENDARY DIGITAL MEDIA ACQUIRES “THE THINNING” STARRING DIGITAL SENSATION LOGAN PAUL AND DISNEY CHANNEL FAVORITE PEYTON LIST
Pairing of Popular Digital and Traditional TV Talent Achieves One of the Largest Social Media Footprints for a Digital Film To Date
Burbank, CA – November 18, 2015 – Legendary Digital Media announced today that it has acquired THE THINNING, a feature-length thriller starring premiere digital entertainer Logan Paul and Disney Channel star Peyton List. Paul and List have 26 million combined social media followers, one of the biggest social footprints of any digital film produced thus far. Paul has over 16 million followers including 8.7 million on Vine and 5.2 million on Facebook, and his videos have generated over 1 billion views in the past three months alone. List, best known for the hit Disney Channel television series “Jessie,” has over 10 million followers across all of her social platforms. She currently stars in “Bunk’d,” a recent spin-off of “Jessie” which ranked as Disney Channel’s #1 premiere of 2015. List is also known for her on-screen work in the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, “27 Dresses,” and “Remember Me.”
Michael Gallagher will direct THE THINNING from a script written by himself and Steve Greene. Gallagher, Greene and producing partner Jana Winternitz were the winners of Legendary’s House of Horrors short film program, a joint initiative launched with YouTube Spaces last year to identify emerging creative talent. The short film from the trio, who collaborate on the TotallySketch YouTube channel which has 1.1 million subscribers, was selected out of over 150 submissions by filmmakers who shot original short films on gothic sets at YouTube Spaces in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Sao Paulo and New York. Gallagher and Winternitz will produce THE THINNING alongside partner Michael Wormser through their Cinemand label along with content studio, Kids at Play. Kids at Play’s Amy Laslett and Jason Berger will also serve as Executive Producers.
THE THINNING takes place in a dying world where population control is dictated by an aptitude test in high school. When two students discover the test is all smoke and mirrors hiding a larger conspiracy, they must go against the system to expose it and take it down.
Production will begin in November, and Legendary will distribute THE THINNING direct to consumers via digital sell-through and video on demand. This distribution model marks the first of its kind for Legendary Digital, which plans to produce and acquire rights to more digital films and series for direct to consumer distribution in 2016.

Legendary has been very active in the digital content space of late, having produced the upcoming Fullscreen digital series ELECTRA WOMAN & DYNA GIRL starring YouTube phenomenons Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart and acquired distribution rights to the feature-length horror thriller DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER which premiered on Crackle earlier this year. Based on the success of DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER, Crackle has ordered a sequel to debut on the streaming service in 2016. Legendary Digital recently announced a partnership with YouTube star Joey Graceffa for the second season of his highly acclaimed young adult supernatural series STORYTELLERS, for which Michael Gallagher directed and Michael Wormser produced the first season. Legendary will continue to feed this steady stream of content with more digital films and series to be produced, acquired and distributed throughout 2016 and beyond.
