Legendary Entertainment Appoints Martin Willhite as General Counsel
Burbank, CA, November 17, 2011 – Legendary Entertainment has named Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP Partner, J. Martin (“Marty”) Willhite as General Counsel, a new post at the company. Willhite will report to Legendary’s Chairman and CEO, Thomas Tull, who made the announcement today.
“We are fortunate to have Marty join our team at Legendary,” stated Tull. “His extensive legal experience with entertainment, capital markets and financial transactions will benefit Legendary on a going forward basis.”
Prior to joining Legendary, Willhite was a Partner at the Los Angeles based law firm, Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. While there, he represented The William Morris Agency in all aspects of its merger with The Endeavor Agency, subsequently forming William Morris Endeavor (WME) in 2009. Other transactions Willhite was integral in executing include: advisement of senior management of Spyglass Entertainment on employment and equity ownership matters as part of their becoming co-chairmen and chief executive officers of MGM Studios; representation of Reveille, in all aspects of its $130 million sale transaction with Shine Limited and others. Willhite also participated in the representation of the Chandler Trusts, the majority shareholder of The Times Mirror Corporation, in the $8 billion sale of Times Mirror to the Tribune Company.
Willhite earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Brigham Young University and his J.D., cum laude, from Loyola Law School.
