Wildly Popular Comedians Star in Modernized Reboot of Classic Series from Sid and Marty Krofft
Burbank, CA – February 26, 2015 – Legendary Digital Media and Fullscreen have partnered with YouTube phenoms Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart in an updated version of Sid & Marty Krofft’s classic 70’s TV series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, bringing the property to a new generation of viewers. Fullscreen will debut and exhibit Electra Woman and Dyna Girl in the U.S. with Legendary Television Distribution overseeing global distribution. Sid & Marty Krofft will executive produce the project.
The announcement was made today by Legendary’s President of Television & Digital Media, Bruce Rosenblum, and Fullscreen’s CEO and founder George Strompolos.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl follows two superheroes as they move from Akron to Los Angeles in hopes of making it big in the crime fighting world, only to find competition with other vigilantes and infighting amongst themselves.
The series, starring Helbig as Electra Woman and Hart as Dyna Girl, comes on the heels of Helbig’s crossover from YouTube fame to television as the host of a late night talk show for E! which premieres in April. Both Helbig and Hart have large social media followings with a combined total of over 10 million subscribers and followers over all of their YouTube and social media platforms. This series also follows Helbig’s and Hart’s recent digital feature film success, Camp Takota, which was executive produced by Helbig and Hart and produced by Fullscreen’s Chief Content Officer Michael Goldfine, and picked up by Netflix last year.
“Legendary is no stranger to the world of superheroes and we’re excited that Sid & Marty Krofft’s Electra Woman and Dyna Girl will mark the first female crime-fighting duo for our brand. Partnering with Fullscreen to deliver top quality digital content for our global fan base is an exciting next step for our growing digital division,” said Greg Siegel, Legendary Digital Media’s Senior Vice President, Development and Production. “I look forward to seeing how Grace and Hannah bring these caped crusaders back to life.”
The reboot of the cult classic TV series will be directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, an award-winning director of music videos for top artists including Ariana Grande, Ke$ha and the Black Keys. Helbig and Hart and their respective managers Ken Treusch and Sarah Weichel will also serve as executive producers. The project is produced by Tim Carter and Tomas Harlan under their Contradiction Films banner which most recently produced Dead Rising: Watchtower with Legendary Digital Media and the hit digital series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.
“Grace and Hannah, Sid and Marty, Legendary and Fullscreen! This is basically our plot to break the Internet in 2015,” said George Strompolos, the founder and CEO of Fullscreen. “As we continue to expand our premium content strategy, we’re extremely proud to collaborate with such great partners and can’t wait to bring this amazing concept to fans everywhere.”

About Sid & Marty Krofft
Many of the most colorful and fondly remembered children’s series of the 1970s and 1980s sprang from the imaginations of Sid and Marty Krofft. The Kroffts made their television debut in 1969 with NBC’s H.R. Pufnstuf, which centered on the magical adventures of boy named Jimmy, a talking flute and a six-foot dragon. The series, which introduced the brothers’ innovative mix of live-action and puppetry, was made into a Universal Pictures feature in 1970. Pufnstuf was quickly followed by The Bugaloos on NBC (1970) andLidsville on ABC (1971). Sigmund and the Sea Monsters and Land Of The Lost premiered on NBC in 1974 and in 1975, respectively. Later kids shows from the Kroffts included Far Out Space Nuts, Lost Saucer and The Krofft Supershow, which included installments ofWonderbug, Big Foot & Wildboy, Electra Woman & Dyna Girl, Dr. Shrinker and Kaptain Kool and the Kongs. Also during these two decades, the Kroffts found success as producers of popular primetime variety series such as The Donny and Marie Show, The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, Pink Lady and Jeff and the top-rated Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters. Krofft puppets were also regular characters on other variety shows of the period. In 1984, the Kroffts made the bold move of giving comedian Richard Pryor his own award-winning Saturday morning children’s series on CBS, Pryor’s Place. The Kroffts got political in 1987 with D.C. Follies, a satirical TV series lampooning current events with amazing, larger-than-life puppets of celebrities, politicians and newsmakers. In 2009, the Krofft’s produced a feature film version of their classic TV program Land of the Lost which was distributed by Universal Pictures. In February of 2015, Amazon Studios signed a development deal with the Kroffts to develop a reimagined pilot based on Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.
