A Town Called Dragon Issue #2 – In Stores Now + Exclusive Interview with Writer Judd Winick
To mark the release of A Town Called Dragon: Issue #2, we sat down with writer Judd Winick to hear about his inspiration and experience working on the comic. Also, stay tuned for the debut of Issue #3 when we release our interview with Geoff Shaw, the artist behind A Town Called Dragon!
Legendary: What was the inspiration behind the town itself in the comic? Were there any real world locations you looked into while writing?
Judd Winick: The town inspired me from a mishmash of places. Salem, Massachusetts, which has devoted itself to all things Witch-like. You can’t swing cat in Salem without hitting something in a pointed black hat. It’s awesome. And on the fictional side, I always dug Sicely, Alaska from NORTHERN EXPOSURE. Mostly for the idea of the ensemble of characters in a small town.
Legendary: How has your experience been working with Legendary Comics?
Judd Winick: Amazing. The opportunity to work with Bob Schreck again, and under Legendary’s mantle has been a complete thrill. This is a story that has been rolling around in my head for years. Now to have the chance to tell it, to do with so much freedom, and partnered with an amazing artist like Geoff Shaw–it just completely rocks.
